Steampunk Game Level

Unreal Environment project for school: How cool is this? I get to build a Steam punk environment for my new favourite game engine!

Modular environment approach inspired by Jacob Norris and his amazing work! Check out: https://youtu.be/ge3AlXUtWac
I am totally in love with the work of Jacob Norris right now. My hope is to learn as much as I can about building modular game environments that are both efficient and beautiful!

Big Update! Latest screen shots from my modular city set. WIP. Lots to do! Everything here is made from a small set of interlocking meshes and only to Unreal materials.

The idea is to get as many building types from as few meshes and textures as possible. This building is an apartment block, with lots of windows for happy residents.

The steepest learning curve for me has been the idea of Texture Atlases. The basic concept is one Unreal material with lots of repeating textures on it to minimize calls in-engine.

My content library so far: less than 20 meshes and only 2 materials! Not that's some efficient level construction!

Roughing out a layout for an Unreal Game level. Trying to see how far I can get with variations on just a few buildings.
